Tour to SALINERAS, MARAS and the archaeological site of agricultural experimentation of MORAY, an interesting and fun half-day tour that will take you to know one of the best agricultural experimentation constructions of the time of the Incas, the way they dominated the different climates for the adaptation of food products; the salt mines of MARAS, is a hot salty spring at the head of the valley. Although the Incas built the mines around 2,000 years ago, the harvesting method hasn't changed much yet.

 

Itinerary:

We start early around 8:00 am, with the pick up from the allowed points in the historic center of the city and we go to visit MORAY, located 62 km from the city of Cusco with an altitude of 3550 m.s.n.m. The terraces found in MORAY resemble an amphitheater due to the circular shape of construction that it has, they were built using the natural shape of the mountain crater making a complex irrigation system, after our visit we went to the SALT MINES OF MARAS ; Worked since the time of the Incas, nowadays it is an economic activity for the inhabitants of the area, it consists of more than 3000 thousand pools that are filled with salty water conducted by external channels in a spectacular way; the villagers show visitors their ancient techniques for collecting salt. Finally, on the way back to Cusco we will make a stop in the colonial town of MARAS, famous for its colonial houses that still maintain original constructions, especially on their facades that attributed to the heraldic shields of each family. We will arrive in the city of Cusco in an approximately 2:30 p.m.
